Join our 6th Form

The Blue is one of the largest school sixth forms in Somerset with 250 students enrolled in the current academic year.   We are proud of our record working with our students to achieve high standards for all over many years.

We have consistently achieved outstanding results at A level, matched by similar success with our BTEC courses. 

Amongst the many advantages of joining The Blue, students benefit from experienced and well-qualified teaching staff, whole academic year teaching to the end of exams in Year 13 and a vibrant enrichment programme. 

As well as our own students, we welcome and encourage applications from students who have previously attended other schools or colleges in the area. 

Thinking of joining us in Y12 next September 2027?

Our 6th Form Open Evening for students interested in joining Y12 in September 2027 will be held on Thursday 5th November 2026 from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.  All are welcome to come and speak to subject specialist staff about their post-16 curriculum options.  Our aim is to provide you with the information you need to make the right choice for you. 

If you are unable to attend the Open Evening and/or want more information, please contact Mrs Hole via mhole@theblueschool.somerset.sch.uk.  Mrs Hole or another member of the sixth form staff team will contact you to find out more and arrange a meeting with you.

As well as our own students in Y11, we welcome and encourage applications from students who have previously attended other schools or colleges in the area. Our experience suggests that you will soon make new friends and settle in well at Y12.

All applicants will be invited to a meeting with the school's sixth form team to discuss their personal option choices.  A visit can also be arranged for students and their parents/carers who are new to the school.
