Join our 6th Form

The Blue is one of the largest school sixth forms in Somerset with 220 students enrolled in the current academic year. 

We have consistently achieved outstanding results at A level, matched by similar success with our BTEC courses. 

Amongst the many advantages of joining The Blue, students benefit from experienced and well-qualified teaching staff, whole academic year teaching to the end of exams in Year 13 and a vibrant enrichment programme. 

As well as our own students, we welcome and encourage applications from students who have previously attended other schools or colleges in the area. 

Joining us in September 2025?

We will be welcoming our new Y12 students for their start of term and registration on Tuesday 2nd September 2025 at 8.45am.  

If you have not previously applied, it is not too late to join our Sixth Form in Y12 in September 2025.  We know that prospective students review their options particularly after the GCSE and BtEC results have been published, this year on Thursday 14th August 2025.   

If on or after 14th August you want to consider returning to or joining us in Y12 please contact the school via SixthForm@theblueschool.somerset.sch.uk and/or office@theblueschool.somerset.sch.uk.  A member of the sixth form staff team will contact you to find out more and arrange a meeting with you.   Our staff are experienced and will have an honest and open conversation with you about the right post-16 options for you and the work requirements of the courses we offer.  At this stage some option combinations may be restricted as the timetable has been written, but we will do what we can to make it work if a solution is possible.    

As well as our own students in Y11, we welcome and encourage applications from students who have previously attended other schools or colleges in the area. Our experience suggests that you will soon make new friends and settle in well at Y12.

As mentioned above, all applicants will be invited to a meeting with the school's sixt form team to discuss their personal option choices.  A visit can also be arranged for students and their parents/carers who are new to the school.

Y12 in September 2026 ?

Our Open Evening for prospective students in September 2026 will be held on Thursday 6th November 2025 at 6pm. Please do come along to what is an informal evening to find out about potential options at post 16.
