A Level Results 2018

The Blue School A Level results: simply outstanding

Students at The Blue School are celebrating an outstanding set of A Level outcomes as a consequence of this year’s results.

Students at all levels achieved exceptionally well.  Nearly half of all grades were at the highest A* or A grade, a figure that is likely to be nearly double the national achievement rate.  Around 90% of entries were achieved at grades A*-C, an unprecedented figure that demonstrates the depth of success across the school.  With around 500 exam entries at the largest school sixth form in Somerset, this translates to a huge number of students who have given themselves the best opportunity for the future.

Headteacher, Mark Woodlock, commented, ‘As a school, we are absolutely delighted with the superb successes achieved by the students.  These are an exceptional set of results that illustrate the talent that the students possess, the excellence of the teaching they have experienced and the strength of the relationships that have been built within the School.’

‘We thank parents and the local community for the support they have given these students during their time at school.  We believe that our community should be justifiably proud of its students and of the school that serves Wells and the surrounding area.’

The vast majority of students have achieved their first choice university place or are able to embark upon their chosen career path.  These include numerous places at the strongest universities across the country, including Oxford and Cambridge, and placements with some of the biggest employers, such as Dyson.

Bridget Cox, Assistant Headteacher responsible for the Sixth Form, said, ‘I am extremely proud of the achievements of all of our students.  Behind these figures lies a significant amount of hard work and dedication.  We continue to serve our students by providing them with the best opportunity for the next steps in their education and careers, and the support to be positive role models for the future.’
