SEND
Children and Families Act 2014
Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice: 0 to 25 years
As part of the Government's SEND reforms, local authorities are
required to publish a Local Offer outlining support for children and
young people with SEN or disabilities. In response to this The Blue
School has published its own Local Offer outlining how we
provide provision for our students. It has been written in-conjunction
with students, parents, Parent Partnership and the Support Services and
will be reviewed annually. It has also been linked to Somerset County
Council's website.

The Blue School is committed to and adopts a similar approach to meeting the needs of all students including those with Special Educational Needs and are supported by the Local Authority to ensure that all students, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. There is a shared expectation that all students, regardless of their specific needs, should be offered high quality, inclusive teaching which will enable them to make the best possible progress in school. We therefore use our best endeavours to ensure that a student with SEND gets the best support they need – this means that we do everything we can to meet our children and young people’s SEND.
The Blue School is an inclusive school and offers a range of provision to support students from Year 7 to Year 13, who experience difficulties with Communication and Interaction, Cognition and Learning, Social, Mental and Emotional problems or Sensory and/or Physical needs.
