GCSE Results 2018
‘Excellent GCSE results achieved at The Blue School’
GCSE students at The Blue School have followed in the footsteps of their A Level counterparts and produced an excellent set of GCSE results this year.
It is the first time that the majority of subjects have been assessed on the new 9 to 1 scale and the students have proved up to the challenges of this new system. An incredible 15% of all entries were at the new 9 or 8 grade, equivalent to an A* under the old system. In addition, just under a third of all entries achieved a grade 7 or above, equivalent to an old A grade.
Strong achievement in the core subjects have been matched by excellent outcomes in other subject areas. Balancing the needs and success of all students across the academic, creative and practical subjects remains at the heart of The Blue School’s philosophy.
Headteacher, Mark Woodlock, commented, "We are very pleased that so many students have fully demonstrated their potential by producing such excellent GCSE grades.
These students faced the uncertainty of a new system, with new and different examinations, and have responded in the best way possible. Our staff have equally faced this uncertainty and we are delighted that the work they have put in to preparing and supporting students has been demonstrated in the strength of these results.
As with our A Level results last week, we are very grateful for the support that we have received from parents and the local community. We believe that our community should be justifiably proud of the high performing school that serves this area and of its students that represent us so well.”
